With the fall semester quickly approaching, Metropolitan State University of Denver is working diligently to ensure that faculty, staff and students who have been approved to return to campus have all the information they need to make a safe transition.
While most of the University’s operations will continue remotely, MSU Denver developed these protocols and guidelines (Spanish version) for the limited number of Roadrunners who will participate in face-to-face classes or who have otherwise been approved to be on campus. The guidelines were created in accordance with recommendations from the Colorado Department of Higher Education and state and local health experts, including our team at the Health Center at Auraria and the University’s Facilities Department.
On Thursday, the Early Bird also announced a new series highlighting our most frequently asked questions about the fall semester. Today, we kick off this series with questions about campus access and cleaning protocols. Stay tuned each Tuesday and Thursday through the beginning of the fall semester for the most up-to-date health and safety information.
How can faculty and staff get office access (one-time or continuing)? In addition, what about those who need to return to campus for required research activities?
Most MSU Denver employees will continue to work remotely for the foreseeable future to safeguard against the spread of COVID-19. The process for employees to request one-time or recurring access to campus is detailed on this webpage.
What cleaning protocols will be used, and who is responsible for the cleaning?
The Safe Return Auraria Facilities and Operations subcommittee has established cleaning protocols that follow guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Disinfectant and paper towels will be available in classrooms and offices for Roadrunners who would like to wipe down their respective areas. Nightly disinfecting of classrooms is also being performed. The campus laboratories are being cleaned and maintained by the individual lab managers to ensure no cross-contamination with chemicals in those lab areas.
If you have a specific concern not addressed in the FAQs, please submit your question on the Safe Return to Campus webpage.
