Students in College of Business course.Roadrunners interested in entrepreneurship training and support are encouraged to check out two upcoming opportunities.

The Ice House Entrepreneur Development Program, supported by Colorado Lending Source, is taught by Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Adam Melnick, J.D., professor, Management, a former Colorado Lending Source staff member. Melnick currently teaches small-business entrepreneurship, general entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial-business-plan writing at MSU Denver.

Through the virtual training, participants will learn how to overcome fears, build community, create a personal brand, become a lifelong learner, develop grit, tap into internal motivation, define personal and professional goals, manage limited resources and more.

Budding entrepreneurs should also consider the Launch Denver program offered by College of Business faculty with support from the Rotary Club. The training is free (this fall only) and is open to MSU Denver faculty, staff, alumni and students. The program helps support and develop entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Denver area by providing access to training, business loans, business-development services and networking opportunities.

Through this virtual training, participants will work on personal and business goal-setting and strategic business planning, addressing all functional aspects of business including marketing, management, operations and financials. Participants determine the feasibility of their idea or growth (if they have an existing business) and finish with most of what they need for a business plan. The program also has participants consider their personal and business risk and steps to increase their success. At the completion of the training, participants will be mentored by Rotary Club members.

Applications are due no later than Sept. 9. Training will be held Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8 p.m. from Sept. 23-Nov. 18.
