With social media’s increased influence as a source of information and brand identity, as well as the ongoing growth and changes in how to manage platforms, it was time for Metropolitan State University of Denver to create a social-media policy. Social-media policies, now standard in many industries, serve as a guide for employees in implementing departmental social-media accounts.
MSU Denver’s recently approved social media policy, which includes an application process, was developed to ensure that any and all social-media interactions on behalf of MSU Denver appropriately portray, promote, protect and represent the University’s best interests and adhere to all MSU Denver policies. It also helps MSU Denver share our (awesome) brand identity in a consistent way.
What does that mean for departments with active social-media accounts?
- Allows official accounts to be registered
- Connects these accounts to Strategy, Marketing and Communications for support with appropriate branding
- Provides continuity by ensuring staffing (another industry standard) for accounts
- Creates a dynamic and active community for our students through planning and strategy
- Helps the MSU Denver community find pages that are engaging and relevant
- Supports your efforts by building a campus partner cohort to inspire and maximize content
If you already have a social-media account for your department/area, please get registered.
