Virtual-portfolio, sabbatical-leave and narrative-writing workshops

Support services are moving online to ensure that faculty members can continue to pursue their professional and academic goals.

Sabbatical Leave Workshop

Bill Henry, Ph.D., vice provost for Faculty Affairs, and Meredith Flynn, Ph.D., associate director for the CTLD, will host a virtual Sabbatical Leave Workshop. During the session, a reviewer will explain what a good application looks like and participants will hear from a faculty member who recently took a sabbatical leave. The workshop will also include information on how to submit a Sabbatical Leave Application in Digital Measures.

April 17

9-11 a.m.

Year 2 and Year 3 Portfolio Preparation Workshop

Henry and Flynn also will host a Year 2 and Year 3 Portfolio Preparation Workshop that will provide a detailed overview of the faculty-evaluation process as well as support on how to best utilize Digital Measures for submitting portfolios. In addition, faculty members who have gone through a review will share their perspectives and tips on how to best navigate the process. A portfolio reviewer will also share insights on what makes a successful portfolio.

April 24

9-11 a.m.

Narrative Writing Workshop

Hosted by Flynn and Elizabeth Kleinfeld, Ph.D., director of the Writing Center, this interactive workshop will help faculty write the narratives that accompany Year 2, Year 3, Tenure, Promotion, Post-tenure or Category II portfolios. Participants will learn tips, strategies, hacks and best practices for writing a compelling narrative.
