Join President Davidson for an online discussion on leadership in times of crisis.

Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty, staff and students are invited to join the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University and MSU Denver for “Leadership in a Pandemic,” a moderated online discussion including President Janine Davidson, Ph.D.; Vice Admiral Bruce H. Lindsey, Ph.D.; and moderator Michael Morell.
The discussion will focus on governmental leadership, action and inaction — centering on recent events surrounding the U.S. Navy carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. The discussion will include time for participant questions.
The event is free and open to faculty, staff and students from MSU Denver and the Schar School at George Mason University. Participants must register with their institutional email account. Login instructions will follow.
Davidson served as the 32nd undersecretary of the U.S. Navy and the president’s appointed “chief management officer” for the Navy and Marine Corps. She also serves as a presidentially appointed commissioner for the National Commission on Military, National and Public Service. She was a faculty member in the Schar School, among others, and was an aviation and aerobatics flight instructor at the U.S. Air Force Academy. She began her career as an Air Force officer and cargo pilot.?She was a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Squadron Officer School and was the first woman to fly the Air Force’s tactical C-130.
Lindsey recently retired as the deputy commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk, Va. As such, he was responsible for the surface, subsurface and Navy aviation assets on the Atlantic side of the country. He commanded the carrier USS Carl Vinson, providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to the people of Haiti and executing a deployment in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and New Dawn. He holds a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Navy War College and a doctorate in public policy from the Schar School.
Morell spent 33 years with the Central Intelligence Agency, serving as deputy director and, on two occasions, acting director. During his CIA career, he also served as director of Intelligence and executive director. Currently, he is a senior national-security contributor for CBS News, host of national-security podcast “Intelligence Matters” and a distinguished visiting professor at the Schar School.
