The Metropolitan State University of Denver Faculty Senate is seeking nominations for four open positions.
Faculty trustee
MSU Denver faculty members are invited to nominate a colleague for the faculty trustee position. As the faculty representative to the Board of Trustees, the faculty trustee is a nonvoting member and serves a one-year term. This representative is expected to attend and participate in all board meetings and retreats and ensure that the voice of the faculty is heard on issues before the board. The faculty trustee attends all Faculty Senate and Faculty Senate Executive Committee meetings, held Wednesdays from 3:20-4:50 p.m. The faculty trustee also sits on the Faculty Employment Handbook Committee.
Candidates must be full-time, tenured faculty members. Please use the nomination form to nominate yourself or a colleague. Nominations are due to Maggie Thulson, assistant to the vice provost for faculty affairs, at memerso9@msudenver.edu by 5 p.m. on April 15.
If there is only one nominee, that nominee will assume the position by acclamation. If multiple nominations are received, an election will be held and the faculty member receiving the most votes from a facultywide election will assume the position.
Affiliate senators
The MSU Denver Faculty Senate also has openings for three affiliate senator seats. Terms are two years. The affiliate representatives attend all Faculty Senate meetings, held on alternating Wednesdays from 3:20-4:50 p.m., and have the same voting rights as all other senators. Affiliate senators are critical for representing the voice of affiliate faculty.
The positions are open to all Category III faculty members, and self-nominations are allowed. If there are only three nominees, those nominees will assume the positions by acclamation. If more than three nominations are received, an election will be held and the Category III faculty members receiving the most votes from an affiliate facultywide election will assume the positions, with the exception that no more than two people can serve from the same academic subdivision.
Please submit your nominations by 5 p.m. on April 15.
If you have any questions about the faculty trustee or affiliate senator position or the election process, please contact Sen. Jo Bailey, Ph.D., chair of the Instructional Resource Committee, at jbaile61@msudenver.edu.
