Awards for outstanding student employees and supervisors

Submit nominations today for the Student Employee of the Year Award and Student Employee Supervisor of the Year Award.

Student employees working together at call center.Roadrunners are invited to nominate outstanding colleagues for the Student Employee of the Year Award or the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year Award by March 25. Awards will be given during the Roadrunners Who Soar Award ceremony.

Student Employee of the Year Award

The Student Employee of the Year Award recognizes students who successfully and effectively balance their education with service to MSU Denver. The award honors the contributions of student employees who work to achieve the goals of MSU Denver and their worksite. Award winners must demonstrate commitment to and growth in their position. Winners must also go beyond their stated job duties by taking initiative and advancing the goals of the department.

Criteria for eligibility:

  • The nominee must have been employed for one full semester in any Metropolitan State University of Denver office or department.
  • The nominee must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA during their employment at MSU Denver.
  • The nominee must have no unexplained work absences.

Criteria for nominees:

Any MSU Denver faculty, staff member or student employee who works with the nominee and can speak to the nominee’s impact is welcome to submit a nomination.

Student Employee Supervisor of the Year Award

The Student Employee Supervisor of the Year Award recognizes MSU Denver employees who successfully and effectively balance their regular job duties with supervising one or more student employees. The nominee should be a committed and engaged mentor who ensures that students are given valuable work experience, treated as full members of the team and given the resources to thrive. Nominees should also be present and communicative and give continuous constructive feedback in support of student employees’ personal, professional and academic growth and success.

Criteria for eligibility:

  • The nominee must be a direct supervisor to one or more student employees.
  • The nominee must have supervised one or more student employees for at least one full semester.
  • The nominee must have a demonstrated history of approving timesheets and successfully completing midsemester student-employee reviews.

Criteria for nominees:

  • Any MSU Denver faculty, staff or student employee who works with the nominee and can speak to the nominee’s supervisory skills is welcome to submit a nomination.
