With the spring sports season suspended in response to COVID-19 concerns, Roadrunners student-athletes, coaches and staff members have channeled their energy into keeping the campus community safe, healthy and engaged. Follow our outstanding teams and programs on social media to stay looped in and active – from a safe distance, that is!
Tracy Chao, head coach, Women’s Soccer, got creative with training by encouraging her players to take part in the Soccer Toilet Paper challenge.
Not to be outdone, Josh Graetz, head coach, Metropolitan State University of Denver Men’s and Women’s Tennis, threw his own challenge (and racket) into the mix.
Isaiah Castilleja, coach, MSU Denver Strength and Condition, tweeted a social-distancing-approved home workout – complete with a handwashing tutorial – that is ideal for those with kids. His upper body movement routine is also great for those spending more time on the computer.
MSU Denver Cross Country, Track and Field echoed the advice of health professionals to stay at home to reduce the spread of the virus.
Athletics programs also participated in the Day of Giving Athletics Challenge. Congratulations to the MSU Denver Women’s Golf program for raising nearly $2,000 and engaging 109 donors!
MSU Denver Volleyball also stepped up by encouraging all prospective program donors to redirect their donations to the Student Emergency Fund. Way to go, team!
The Roadrunners Athletics Facebook page shared a significant day in MSU Denver history. Wednesday marked the 20th anniversary of the Men’s Basketball team’s historic NCAA Division II championship — the first in University history.
Finally, if you’re missing all the live sports action, Roadrunners Athletics All-access is regularly rebroadcasting great games throughout Roadrunner history. Tune in!
