Updates on coronavirus

University-related international travel suspended; livestream Wednesday’s coronavirus town hall for more information.

Metropolitan State University of Denver is committed to keeping the campus community safe and informed as Colorado’s coronavirus situation continues to evolve. The Early Bird will provide regular updates on health resources and any campus impacts. Up-to-the-minute information is also available on the University’s coronavirus website.

With multiple cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) now confirmed in Colorado, MSU Denver and the Auraria Higher Education Center continue to closely monitor the latest developments and will be sharing regular updates.

University-related international travel suspended

Out of an abundance of caution, and to protect our community from potential exposure to coronavirus (COVID-19), Metropolitan State University of Denver is suspending all University-related international travel, including study abroad, through the end of the semester. We are also strongly discouraging personal international travel and ask that Roadrunners please use their best judgment when making decisions about upcoming trips.

Questions about study abroad can be directed to the Office of International Studies at 303-615-1222. Faculty members who would like to discuss their imminent international conference or travel plans should contact Provost Vicki Golich, Ph.D., at vgolich@msudenver.edu or 303-615-1900.

Two town hall events Wednesday

Roadrunners are encouraged to visit msudenver.edu/livestream to participate in coronavirus town hall meetings led by President Janine Davidson, Ph.D. The president will be joined by Larry Sampler, chief operating officer and vice president for administration and finance; Steve Monaco, director of the Health Center at Auraria; and Dr. Ruben Zorrilla, the center’s medical director. Provost Vicki Golich, Ph.D., will also participate in the faculty-focused town hall.

Town hall meeting for faculty, chairs and deans

Wednesday

9 a.m.

This gathering will focus on issues specific to faculty such as international travel and alternative teaching methods.

Town hall meeting for students and staff

Wednesday

3 p.m.

This gathering will focus on topics such as preparing for a potential campus closure, spring break travel and meetings.

The University and its partners on the Auraria Campus will continue to closely watch developments in the state and collaborate with health officials to best serve the MSU Denver community.
