This fall, more than 80 students and faculty members in Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Department of Music worked together to present a virtual end-of-the-semester showcase. Roadrunners are invited to enjoy eight recitals and the Holiday Card to the City concert featuring student and faculty performers. The virtual showcase represents a diverse range of musical styles, including piano solos, the Gamelan Manik Kusama ensemble, guitar and voice performances and more.
Students and instructors observed strict health and safety protocols to accommodate in-person and hybrid classes combined with virtual instruction. Choir members performed in masks, while socially distanced Symphonic Band members recorded their arrangements outdoors. Despite pandemic difficulties, the resilience of each performer triumphantly shines through.
“We knew there was no one-size-fits-all approach to recording and presenting our concert videos, but we also knew how important it was to maintain our collaboration and create something worthwhile together in these uncertain times,” said MB Krueger, professor and director of choral activities. “We hope that what we have created will shine some light into all our hearts and help kick off a joyous holiday season.”
