Face shields available for on-campus faculty

Faculty members who are teaching on-campus courses for fall or spring can now access free face shields to use during face-to-face instruction.

Faculty members who are teaching on-campus courses this fall (or who anticipate teaching an on-campus course in spring) can now access free face shields to use during face-to-face instruction. The use of face shields aligns with Metropolitan State University of Denver’s health and safety protocols. Faculty members are welcome to use face shields but should also continue practicing social distancing and other safety measures.

Face shields and personal-protective-equipment kits for faculty members are available from the Crew in Blue by visiting the Jordan Student Success Building Welcome Desk between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Faculty members must provide their name and University ID number to pick up a kit.

“We understand that teaching while wearing a mask can be challenging, and we want faculty to be comfortable and expressive in their instruction while still being safe,” said Leone Dick, chief of staff to the vice president for Administration. “We will continue to follow best practices and to offer all employees who are teaching or supporting on-campus courses the resources they need to keep themselves, their families, their students and their communities healthy.”

The University’s health and safety protocols were developed in consultation with experts in the Health Center at Auraria and in accordance with recommendations from the Colorado Department of Higher Education, as well as state and local health experts.
