National Transfer Student Week kicks off Monday

Virtual events will include conversations on financial-aid support and managing impostor syndrome as well as a Spanish-language student panel.

Join the Transfer Peer Mentors to virtually celebrate National Transfer Student Week from Oct. 19-23.

The Transfer Peer Mentors will host events on accessing financial aid and managing impostor syndrome as well as a Spanish-language transfer panel and Q&A. Prospective transfer students can also get to know Metropolitan State University of Denver by participating in a game lunch, taking part in gift-card giveaways and more. The grand prize is a $250 e-gift card to Tivoli Station for books and supplies.

• Monday: Financial Aid Café, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
• Tuesday: Transfer Talk Show with the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students, noon-1 p.m.
• Sunset self-care: 5:30-7 p.m.
• Wednesday: A Conversation About Impostor Syndrome With the Phoenix Center at Auraria, 11 a.m.- 12:15 p.m.
• Thursday: Spanish-Speaking Student and Family Q&A Panel, 11 a.m-1 p.m.
• Friday: Game lunch, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Transfer students make up more than half of MSU Denver’s population, and according to the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students, transfer populations are often the most diverse population of students on a given campus. Many MSU Denver transfer students are from historically underrepresented groups, are first-generation students, are working full-time and/or are taking care of families.

Transfer students have individual needs dependent on their previous college experience, so it is important to offer individualized assistance and outreach through the Transfer Peer Mentor Program. MSU Denver is also a Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll institution, meaning the University is nationally recognized as an exemplary transfer school.
