At September’s Fall Welcome Back event, President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., announced the Employee Referral Program. The pilot program, coordinated through Human Resources, is aimed at engaging Roadrunners in the executive-level recruitment process and helping to attract a talented and diverse candidate pool.
The pilot Employee Referral Program applies to all Metropolitan State University of Denver employees on payroll.
Currently, referrals are being accepted for the following positions only:
- Provost
- Dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences
- Dean of the College of Health and Applied Sciences (formerly the College of Professional Studies)
Roadrunners who nominate final-round candidates for these three pilot-phase positions will receive a $250 incentive for their contribution to the process. Please note that “final-round” will be defined as “virtual campus interviews” or “final interview prior to an offer being made.”
“As higher-education leadership searches become more competitive, finding the best candidates requires more than placing ads on websites,” said Angela Bender, director of talent strategy, Human Resources. “We really want employees to be proactive in the process by reaching out to friends in academia, former colleagues and anyone they think would be an outstanding candidate.”
The Human Resources team is using this pilot program to develop a formal referral program. Executive-level searches that occur after the pilot phase will include incentives only for employees who refer the candidate who is ultimately hired. Future executive-level searches will not be considered part of the pilot program.
Please note that the pilot Employee Referral Program applies to all Metropolitan State University of Denver employees on payroll with the following exceptions:
- Human Resources employees
- Contractors
- Search Committee Members serving on the search for which the referral is being made
- Senior Leadership
Eligible referrals must be received before final-round interviews are announced.
To make a referral, complete the MSU Denver Employee Referral Program Form.
The Human Resources team will incorporate lessons learned in the pilot phase into future searches. For more information, to provide feedback on the pilot program or for questions about any of the three hiring searches now in progress, please contact Bender.
