Each semester, the Teaching Effectiveness Institute offers Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty members a chance to reinvigorate their teaching practices and enjoy engaging discussions with peers. The event takes place the week before classes resume and features discussions with MSU Denver experts.

“As MSU Denver is a teaching-focused institution, I think engaged, critical discussions of our teaching methods are an important part of ‘walking the walk,’” said Jeff Loats, director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design. “Not to mention that the sheer variety of excellent ideas is always stimulating and exciting.”

The event will feature sessions on neuromyths vs. evidence-based teaching practices, how good teaching in one format translates to another (online to face-to-face, for example) and establishing rapport with students using an instructor-intro video.

The half-day event starts with a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and will include interactive sessions with lots of time for discussion and building connections among faculty members.
