2021 Richard T. and Virginia M. Castro Distinguished Visiting Professorship 

Today

10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. 

Roadrunners and community members are invited to attend events celebrating the 2021 Richard T. and Virginia M. Castro Distinguished Visiting Professorship. This year’s theme of “RePRESSente: Broadcasting, nuestras historias” highlights Latina journalists who tell the stories of Latino/a and other marginalized communities. It will feature a virtual keynote address by Maria Hinojosa, 2021 Richard T. and Virginia M. Castro Distinguished Visiting Professor.

Developing Healthy Practices for Managing Stress 

Thursday

4-5 p.m. 

Drawing on the knowledge and insights of MSU Denver experts, Developing Healthy Practices for Managing Stress will explore physical, psychological and social habits that can help reduce the stressors that may result from our return to campus.  

The panel discussion will be held in JSSB 400, though attendees may also join through Zoom (see link below).

RSVP to attend in person or via Zoom and submit questions in advance.

Fall 2021 Welcome Back

8 a.m. – Breakfast in the King Center outside of the Concert Hall

9-10 a.m. – President’s Welcome Back in the King Center Concert Hall

This year’s event will include updates on Safe Return to Campus efforts and the impacts on workforce, budget and enrollment as well as a candid dialogue with Provost Alfred Tatum, Ph.D. The 2021 Legislator of the Year and recipients of the Champion of the Year awards will also be celebrated. 

As a reminder, all students and employees are required to wear masks on campus while indoors.

Please RSVP to be included in the raffle and to receive your “Ready to Rise” T-shirt.

UndocuPeers training

Roadrunners are invited to attend a six-hour professional-development training to raise awareness about the realities and challenges faced by undocumented students and the resources available to them. The material is based on a workshop developed by undocumented students and the advocacy group United We Dream. Masks will be required for this in-person training, and capacity is limited to 40 participants, so be sure to reserve your spot today.

Food Truck Mondays

Starting Sept. 13, a lineup of local food trucks will be available on campus every Monday (excluding holidays and academic breaks).

Application deadline for Auraria Campus Police Department Community Advisory Board

Apply online for the MSU Denver student-member position on the ACPD CAB by Friday. The yearlong term is uncompensated and will require attendance of the board meetings on Thursdays from 8-9:15 a.m. All applications will be screened by the University before appointees are selected by University leadership.

Important parking information and vehicle registration

Register your vehicle to avoid after-hours and weekend campus parking rates starting Sept. 13. The after-hours parking rates will mirror Special Event rates with the 5th Street Garage charging $15 and the Tivoli Garage implementing a $20 rate. The 7th Street Garage will not be available for parking after 5 p.m., but cars will still be able to exit after hours with payment.

To avoid a parking-rate increase, register your vehicle online or in person by visiting the Parking and Transportation Services Office at:
