Awarding college credit for military training just got easier

Learn how MSU Denver is streamlining evaluations and better serving military students.

Metropolitan State University of Denver now has a new way to review, evaluate and award academic credit for military learning, training and experience.

Under a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support and the American Council on Education has modernized the ACE Military Guide. The organizations created a new automated workflow that extracts data from a student’s Joint Services Transcript and allows colleagues from different academic departments to collaborate on an official credit award. 

By implementing the new modernized ACE Military Guide with specialized account access, MSU Denver can provide more dynamic search, exporting, reporting and interoperability capabilities. This streamlines the work of evaluating ACE credit recommendations and awarding academic credit more quickly and effectively to student-veteran learners. The technology includes an upload feature for the student’s Joint Services Transcript, a side-by-side comparison between the transcript and ACE credit recommendations and information for the University’s past credit awards. Suggested credit awards can then be forwarded to faculty for review, all while remaining in one workflow system. 

MSU Denver is committed to serving military-service members and veterans by evaluating their military experience for degree-earning academic credit.
