Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Innovative and Lifelong Learning (I&LL) is doubling down on its mission to offer working professionals and students valuable professional skills no matter where they are in their career journey. To help learners sharpen their skills, I&LL is debuting a new Professional Writing Certificate.
Professional Writing Certificate
With professional growth in mind, the certificate program is designed to help people who struggle with writing, a skill that is valuable in any industry. The curriculum, taught by MSU Denver’s expert faculty, is strength-based and centers on critical writing skills as well as building confidence.
The first course, Writing Principles, focuses on grammar, structure and style. The course launches Wednesday in an online, self-paced format. Classes are four weeks to accommodate busy professionals and working students and to focus on real-world applications. The next two courses in the certificate, Effective Business Writing and Writing for Digital Media, launch in spring.
“Effective writing is critical in any industry, any job,” said Terry Bower, associate vice president, I&LL. “Any time I speak with employers, they ask about writing support for their employees. Hiring managers and supervisors want people who can write well, whether it’s writing a press release, a report, a memo, a presentation, an ad or an email.”
MSU Denver employees receive a 10% discount on the program by using the code “Writing10.” For more information and to register, visit msudenver.edu/professionalwriting.
