Vaccine verification and required testing

To comply with a recent Public Health Order, MSU Denver has instituted new processes and testing procedures.

Metropolitan State University of Denver announced in April that it would require students, faculty and staff to receive Covid-19 vaccinations before the start of the fall semester.

To comply a recent Public Health Order issued by Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, MSU Denver has instituted new vaccination-verification processes as well as testing procedures for unvaccinated individuals. All unvaccinated students and members of faculty and staff, regardless of exemption status, who will be on campus this fall will be required to participate in mandatory weekly Covid-19 testing beginning the week of Aug. 23.  

All employees received a follow up email on Wednesday from verifications@msudenver.edu detailing the required steps to submit proof of vaccination. Vaccination status for students will be determined using Colorado’s Immunization Information System, a confidential electronic process managed by the Colorado Department of Health. Unvaccinated students also receive more information from the Dean of Students Office on Wednesday. 

Testing will be administered free of charge by CovidCheck Colorado at the 5th Street Parking Garage or any of CovidCheck Colorado’s community testing sites. Appointments are required. Unvaccinated individuals who fail to participate in the required weekly testing will not be permitted on campus.   

Free vaccinations are available at the Health Center at Auraria or other locations throughout the state.   

All members of the campus community should continue to follow the campus mask requirements announced last week and to observe MSU Denver’s  Required Health Protocols and Daily Health Assessment. If you are feeling sick, do not come to campus.
