1 Book/1 Project/2 Transform is proud to announce its 2021-22 selection, “A Mind Spread Out on the Ground” by Indigenous author Alicia Elliott. In what one critic called “an astonishing book of insightful and affecting essays,” Elliott explores mental illness, racial justice, parenthood, gentrification, poverty, representation and intergenerational trauma.
Metropolitan State University of Denver faculty and staff members who wish to incorporate “A Mind Spread Out on the Ground” in a 2021-22 course or program are encouraged to request physical and/or digital copies of the book, free of charge, for themselves and their students by filling out this form as soon as possible. Additional programming includes a campus visit by Elliott on Nov. 10, a student essay contest, panel discussions and more.
Developed in 2010, the 1 Book/1 Project/2 Transform common reading project encourages learning, engaging in meaningful discussion and participating in a service project related to the book’s theme to connect students to their peers, campus and community.
Submit your request for books today to ensure that you have them in time for the fall semester.
