Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021, the University is excited to disburse $7.1 million directly to continue to support students during their time of need. This is in addition to $14 million for Metropolitan State University of Denver from last year’s $2 trillion CARES Act Covid-19 relief package, including $7.1 million in direct-to-student aid.
MSU Denver will award this new round of CRRSAA funding through two grant programs:
The Additional Impact Grant is aimed at serving students with the greatest financial need, awarded to eligible students with an Expected Family Contribution of less than $5,712 as calculated by the FAFSA. These grants will offer $1,000 paid in two $500 payments, with the option to apply funds to student accounts. Eligible students were sent an email notification and must accept the funds through a self-certification process before May 15. Failure to do so can result in the cancellation of the grant. For questions regarding the impact-grant process, please contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at finaid@msudenver.edu.
To be eligible for the Additional Impact Grant, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be eligible for federal student aid as determined by completing a 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.gov.
- Be enrolled in at least one course during the spring term.
- Have experienced financial hardship and expenses related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Additional Emergency Relief Grant is slated to provide support with a broader scope of immediate financial needs. These grants are available to eligible students regardless of Expected Family Contribution but will require them to complete an application form. The application opened Monday and closes May 31. For questions regarding the emergency-relief-grant process, please contact the Student Care Center at 303-615-0006 or studentcarecenter@msudenver.edu.
