Support for APIDA/AAPI employees and students

Roadrunners who identify as Asian, Pacific Islanders or Desi Americans are invited to join virtual community-building events Tuesday and Thursday.

President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., shared support and resources for members of the University community Thursday in the wake of the targeted shootings of six Asian women in the Atlanta area last week. In an email to Roadrunners, Davidson reaffirmed Metropolitan State University of Denver’s stance as an anti-racist institution and offered support to Asian, Pacific Islander and Desi American (APIDA) members of our community and others who are hurting after another instance of racial violence.

“Our country has a long history of racially motivated bias and discrimination, including targeting immigrants and Americans of Asian descent. There is no place for such hate at MSU Denver,” Davidson said.

In addition to a virtual gathering Friday that was hosted by the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion, the MSU Denver Counseling Center will this week host virtual events specifically for members of the University’s APIDA community.

Support Space for Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Students

Thursday, 2-3 p.m.

These virtual events are open to Roadrunners who identify as Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA/AAPI). As a member of the APIDA/AAPI community, staff psychologist Caela Day, Psy.D., will offer a virtual space for attendees to share experiences associated with the recent rise in anti-Asian racist attacks and Covid-related stress within our community.
