Learn insights about advocacy, the University’s priorities and discovering ways to get engaged. Participants will be equipped with useful information to be effective advocates for Metropolitan State University of Denver and will have an opportunity to engage lawmakers, share their MSU Denver experience and explain why an investment in the University is an investment in Colorado.

Denver Downtown Partnership Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Speaker Series

The Downtown Denver Partnership’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Speaker Series is a four-part series that will offer partnership members, partners and stakeholders the opportunity to learn from and engage with speakers whose expertise will provide understanding on how we as a community can build a city that works for everyone.
Join the DDP to hear from Tamika Butler, who will discuss how Denver can build equity as the city emerges from these challenging times. Butler is a nationally recognized consultant who uses her expertise in law, community organizing, transportation planning and nonprofit leadership to help communities and organizations become more inclusive and equitable.

The 2021 Bridge Speaker Event: Building Coalitions for Care and Liberation

The Gender Institute for Teaching and Advocacy’s annual Bridge Speaker event serves as a bridge between Black History Month in February and Women’s History Month in March. In the event's 31st year, GITA and community partners — including the Departments of Africana Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Social Work as well as TRiO SSS, CAMP, Immigrant Services and student org Building Allies for Diversity — invite Roadrunners to dialogue about the BIPOC "Safer Space" Resolution and to learn about what it means to be antiracist from Black Feminist Queer cultural/memory worker, curator, and organizer Cara Page.

Page is a Black Feminist Queer cultural/memory worker, curator and organizer. She comes from a long ancestral legacy of organizers and cultural workers from the southeast to the northeast. For the past 20-plus years, she has fought for LGBTQGNC and People of Color liberation, and organized in the southeast with movement builders such as SONG, Project South, and the Atlanta Transformative Justice Collaborative and has built with many organizers, healers and cultural workers across the country.
