The Metropolitan State University of Denver Counseling Center regularly surveys clients on their experiences with treatment and seeks information as to whether their condition has improved with therapeutic interventions. Students are also asked to provide comments on what was helpful and ways in which services could be customized to meet their needs.
Equally important is the need to hear from faculty and staff members, who are often an important source of referral to the center’s services. This semester, the Counseling Center staff has designed a questionnaire to gather insights and general feedback in an effort to continue enhancing services.
“Although the stigma of mental health is being reduced, there is still a long way to go,” said Gail Bruce-Sanford, Ph.D., executive director of the Counseling Center. “If faculty and staff are adequately and correctly informed about on-campus mental-health services and programs that are designed to help students, then chances are that they would be more apt to make referrals with relative ease.”
Faculty and staff members are encouraged to participate in this questionnaire as employee feedback will be instrumental in the future design and implementation of the Counseling Center’s mental-health services. The questionnaire should take approximately 5-10 minutes and will close March 22.
