MSU Denver welcomes author Gayle Tzemach Lemmon to discuss her book ‘The Daughters of Kobani.’

The Metropolitan State University of Denver Presidential Speaker Series will welcome author Gayle Tzemach Lemmon on March 11 to discuss her book “The Daughters of Kobani: A Story of Rebellion, Courage and Justice,” which tells the extraordinary story of an all-female Kurdish militia that fought against the Islamic State and for women’s rights in Syria.

President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., and Lemmon will be joined by Katherine Miller, affiliate professor and victim-services coordinator with the Gender Institute for Teaching and Advocacy, who will moderate the virtual discussion and the live Q&A session.

All Roadrunners and community members are welcome to attend, and faculty members are encouraged to integrate the event into their coursework. The first 30 students to register will get a free copy of “The Daughters of Kobani.” Questions for Lemmon can be submitted upon RSVP.

Lemmon is the author of the New York Times bestsellers “Ashley’s War” and “The Dressmaker of Khair Khana” and an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. She regularly appears on CNN, PBS, MSNBC and NPR, and she has spoken on national-security topics at the Aspen Security Forum and the Clinton Global Initiative and via TED. A graduate of Harvard Business School, she serves on the board of Mercy Corps and is a member of the Bretton Woods Committee.
