Over head shot of person sitting at a computer, words New students, faculty members and staff members will soon benefit from an easier process when setting up their Metropolitan State University of Denver NetID account and password for the first time.

Information Technology Services, in close collaboration with Human Resources and New Student Orientation, is updating the process as part of an ongoing initiative to upgrade Banner Self-Service. The new process will significantly improve the overall user experience by providing easier, faster and more secure access to most of the University’s technology tools that are accessed using the MSU Denver NetID and password. These vital tools include those used to register for classes, check email and manage account information.

The new first-time login process will be officially implemented in early February and will introduce a modern account-setup process. Notable improvements will include a uniform, continuous account-setup process within Office 365, eliminating the need to go through the cumbersome PIN-lookup process. Other benefits include numerous built-in security features designed to protect the privacy and information of new students, faculty members and staff members.

Improving a process this fundamental to the University requires a significant amount of coordination, time and effort to ensure a seamless implementation. ITS wishes to express gratitude for the ongoing input and support provided by HR and New Student Orientation throughout this important project.

If your department helps new students, faculty members or staff members get started at MSU Denver, please be aware that HR and New Student Orientation will update their documentation to reflect the new process. Detailed instructions for finding updated materials will be provided in the Early Bird closer to the implementation date.

If you have any suggestions for how the information-technology user experience at MSU Denver could be improved, please submit a service request at support.msudenver.edu.
