Vacancies, updates to current position descriptions and new position descriptions
Hiring managers must insert their updates to position descriptions in PeopleAdmin’s position-management module by Friday to have their vacancies eligible to be posted by winter break. Hiring managers who insert updates to position descriptions after Friday will have to wait until January for their vacancies to be posted.
To help Human Resources move position descriptions quickly, it is important that hiring managers use the “Purpose of this request” drop-down menu and text box to accurately describe the purpose of and reason for the position-description update.
It is also critical that hiring managers insert the correct FOAPAL information. If hiring managers are unaware of the funding sources, they should partner with their department fiscal managers to capture that information in PeopleAdmin.
Ongoing searches
Hiring managers and search chairs who already have postings and searches running should have the following deadlines in mind when considering making an offer of employment:
New Employee Orientation dates:
- Dec. 13
- Jan. 3
- Jan. 17
New-hires and promotion start dates
For a December start date, all Electronic Personnel Action Forms must be submitted by Dec. 7 (payroll deadline).
- Promotions – must start on the first of the month.
- Student/hourly employees – must start on the first of the month.
