Nominations continue to roll in for Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Roadrunner Shoutout of the Week awards, highlighting the excellent and important work happening at all levels of the University. This week, we celebrate three members of our University community who inspire students and their colleagues.
“This week’s winners stood out to me because of their compassion and charisma,” said Larry Sampler, chief operating officer and vice president for Administration, who selected the honorees. “Doors begin to open when a community bands together, and it’s clear that this week’s winners are major contributors to the expanding possibilities here at MSU Denver.”
Faculty winner – Lunden MacDonald, Ph.D., professor, Modern Languages
Nominated by MSU Denver student Jeremy Medina, who wrote:
“Dr. MacDonald is one of the best teachers I have had in my entire life. She takes the time to make sure every student has what they need to succeed not just in the course but also in life. She is a great mentor and a great teacher who inspires people to do better in life. MSU Denver is very lucky to have her in the department and at the school.”
Lunden, your leadership as an educator has been invaluable. Thank you for going above and beyond to help students reimagine their possible.
Staff winner – Camden Farmer, associate registrar, Registrar’s Office
Nominated by Brandy Schooler, assistant registrar, Registrar’s Office, who wrote:
“Camden has been with MSU Denver for two years, and in this time he has overcome transfer barriers that we experienced for years! He is tenacious and continues to push us toward the top transfer institution in Colorado. Camden is also kind, thoughtful, helpful, and listens to his employees’ needs and concerns. Camden is, in short, AMAZING!!!”
Camden, you have made such a meaningful impact on your co-workers and on transfer students. The University is grateful for your hard work!
Student-employee winner – Jenna Koehler, learning assistant, Biology
Nominated by Clare Hays, DVM, professor of Biology, who wrote:
“Jenna has been an LA for my classes each semester since spring 2020 (including summers). She always completes her duties on time with high accuracy. She encourages the students to reach out to her for any help and helps them in a friendly and non-judgmental capacity. She deserves recognition for her outstanding work helping her fellow students.”
Jenna, your thoughtfulness and can-do attitude are inspiring. Thank you for supporting fellow Roadrunners throughout your academic journey. (Since we couldn't find a photo of you, here is one of Rowdy celebrating your achievement!)
