The MSU Denver faculty brain trust reaches almost every corner of the academic spectrum, and we are always proud to see Roadrunners sharing their knowledge. Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics – providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

Here’s a sampling from December:

Andrea Borrego, Ph.D., associate professor of criminal justice and criminology, interviewed with Colorado Newsline on Dec. 16 about the recent independent investigation into police response to the George Floyd protests.

Christian Hardigree, J.D., dean of the School of Hospitality, interviewed with Fox31 on Dec. 14 about industries that may require proof of immunization, such as schools and airlines. 

Erin Seedorf, Dr.P.H., assistant professor of health professions, interviewed with 9News on Dec. 13 about the “unprecedented” timeframe in which the Covid-19 vaccine was developed and approved.

Ben Thompson, Ph.D., professor of human performance and sport, interviewed with CW2 and Fox31 on Dec. 8 about taking performance supplements and how they may affect drug tests. 

Stacey Hervey, MSSc, associate professor of criminal justice and criminology, interviewed with Scripps Media on Dec. 1 about the recent rise in hate crimes nationally and impacts from the pandemic.  

Nicolas Cachanosky, Ph.D., associate professor of economics, interviewed with Univision National on Dec. 6 about the millions of workers about to lose access to paid leave as a result of the pandemic.
