A woman lifting weights.Fitness isn’t just for the fit. Exercise is shown to increase energy, decrease stress, combat fatigue and improve performance. With that in mind, Campus Recreation invites you to join the 10-week fitness challenge, Roadrunner Rally.

Roadrunner Rally welcomes all fitness levels, and participants are scored based on time commitment rather than strength or endurance. Gift cards are offered as incentives throughout the program, so the more you participate, the more you can win – in both wealth and health.

Staff and faculty participants will earn points for their school/department or division team. There will be team and individual leaderboards because your accomplishments should be celebrated!

EARN POINTS IN THREE WAYS

1) Attend 30-minute live group-fitness classes and earn 40 points/class. Can’t make the live session? Follow the YouTube version for 35 points/class.

Tuesdays

8:30 a.m.

Starting Jan. 26

Power Barre is a total-body workout that alternates movements to improve balance, muscular strength and endurance. This class combines light cardio (optional) with body-weight exercises to bring you a dynamic and fun workout. No equipment necessary. Open to all skill levels. Join the class via tinyurl.com/s21-powerbarre.

Fridays

9:30 a.m.

Starting Jan. 29

Tabata is a high-intensity interval training program that consists of eight sets of fast-paced exercises each performed for 20 seconds interspersed with a brief rest of 10 seconds. Join the class via tinyurl.com/s21-tabata.

2) Stretching/Yoga. Getting your blood flowing and muscles moving is super-important to ward off sore shoulders, a throbbing back and hurting hips. We recommend stretching and/or yoga in the morning and after sitting for a long time. Earn one point for each full minute. Bonus: It can even help your posture, calm your mind, relieve stress and decrease tension headaches. Your eyes need a break from the screen, so why not stretch while doing so?

3) Each week will have a different Featured Exercise. Earn one point for each full minute of completion – these do not need to be consecutive minutes; just keep track throughout the week. A video demonstrating each exercise with easier and harder variations will be provided. You should complete the variation that matches your ability. Listen to your body – do not overexert yourself.
