Over head shot of person sitting at a computer, words Microsoft is ending extended support for Windows 7 on Jan. 14. To ensure that all MSU Denver computers continue to receive security and system updates, Information Technology Services has been working to upgrade all Windows 7 workstations and laptops to Windows 10. However, many devices still need to be upgraded before the end of the year.

Most users can upgrade their assigned computer at their convenience by using the Windows 10 Upgrade item available in Software Center. Please note that the upgrade process usually takes around 2 hours, and the computer won’t be usable in that time. For more information, including step-by-step instructions for running the in-place upgrade, please visit the Windows 10 Upgrade initiative page.

ITS will be scheduling departmental visits through November to answer any questions about the upgrade. ITS will also directly contact any users whose assigned computer is still running Windows 7 after Dec. 6.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 303-352-7548 or support.msudenver.edu.
