Student sitting on lawn working on laptop.Information Technology Services provides remote access to campus technology resources from offsite locations through a service known as Virtual Private Network. The Metropolitan State University of Denver VPN service has been in place for several years, but the campus community’s growing infrastructure and security needs led ITS to investigate alternative solutions.

Now, after months of implementation, testing and transitioning, the new remote access solution, GlobalProtect, is live! In addition to providing remote technology access to verified users, GlobalProtect includes features that allow ITS to better support the University’s needs and to better maintain the security of the MSU Denver technology environment. GlobalProtect is available to all faculty, staff and students on request.

To complete this initiative, ITS will decommission the old Windows VPN solution Nov. 1 during the standard maintenance window of midnight-6 a.m. Nearly all old VPN users are using GlobalProtect now, but if you are still using the old service (or if you need to access local network resources from off campus) please fill out the GlobalProtect access request form.

For more information about this initiative, please visit the VPN Migration initiative page. For more information about using GlobalProtect, please visit the GlobalProtect knowledge base page. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 303-352-7548 or support.msudenver.edu.
