The MSU Denver faculty brain trust reaches almost every corner of the academic spectrum, and we are always proud to see Roadrunners sharing their knowledge. Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics – providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

Here’s a sampling from August:

William Gaines, lecturer of criminal justice and criminology, shared his expertise with Fox31 on Aug. 16 about the recent Colorado Springs officer-involved shooting caught on a police body camera.

Krista Griffin, associate professor of literacy, spoke with Denver7 on Aug. 13 about whether cursive should continue to be taught in schools in a technology-driven world.

Rebecca Trammell, associate dean in the College of Professional Studies, was interviewed by Scripps TV on Aug. 19 about how questions about Jeffrey Epstein’s death led to a web of conspiracy theories.

Sally Baalbaki-Yassine, associate professor of marketing, interviewed with CGTN America on Aug. 28 about the boom in the thrifting industry due to environmentally conscious consumers.

Whitney Traylor, associate professor of management and an attorney, was interviewed by 9News on Aug. 30 about the details behind the ruling of the opioid trial with the State of Oklahoma.
