Important RAVE Alert updates
Prepare for changes to the Auraria Campus’ emergency-notification system.

September 11, 2019
Beginning Oct. 1, the Auraria Higher Education Campus and Metropolitan State University of Denver RAVE Alerts will no longer include voice-telephony services, also known as text-to-speech phone calls. Users will still receive all critical and timely emergency alerts and information via email and text message.
The decision to discontinue text-to-speech phone-call services was based on the following:
- RAVE Alert messaging is the same across all delivery vectors, so no information is lost.
- Recipients regularly report a preference for email and text message over phone calls.
- Unwanted phone calls have prompted some recipients to opt out of the system entirely, which poses a safety concern.
- The move creates more messaging uniformity across our tri-institutional community.
For campus users who want to retain text-to-speech capabilities, your personal cellphone is capable of reading text messages and emails using text-to-speech accessibility options. Visit the appropriate link below for more information and to enable text-to-speech capability on your device.
