Network-drive migration continues
Public and specialty drives being moved this week.

As noted in previous Early Bird articles, Information Technology Services has been migrating MSU Denver network drives to a new, upgraded technology environment over the past few weeks. This week, ITS will migrate the public- and student-facing drives (P:, S: and K:) Friday during the ITS maintenance window (12-6 a.m.).
No significant action is required from users, but here are a few things you can do to ensure a smooth transition:
- All users: Before the night of each migration, close any files on the network drives you might have open. This will ensure that the most up-to-date version of the file is transferred to the new environment.
- Windows users: Managed Windows computers with a current network-drive connection will automatically update the network-drive address during the first login after the migration. This update will be received only if the computer is connected to the campus network, so ITS recommends either shutting down your computer the night before the migration or restarting it the next time you have it on campus.
- Mac users: Managed MacOS computers will be configured to automatically connect to the appropriate network drive; manual connections will no longer be necessary. This new configuration will reliably be applied only if the computer is connected to the campus network, so ITS recommends either shutting down your computer the night before the migration or restarting it the next time you have it on campus.
Specialty drives for individual departments will be migrated in the coming weeks. ITS will send targeted communications to affected departments once their specialty drive’s migration has been scheduled. If you receive an email about your department’s network drives, remember that the above tips still apply.
