Information Technology Services is preparing to upgrade all Metropolitan State University of Denver conference rooms with new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones and phone numbers. This is a continuation of last year’s transition to a Universitywide VoIP solution. Upgrades will begin the week of Sept. 9 and are scheduled for completion by the end of November.
Conference rooms that seat fewer than 10 people will include a Polycom VVX 411, the current standard model of desk phone at MSU Denver. Larger rooms will have a Polycom Trio 8800, a triangle-shaped phone designed for larger conferencing environments. Both phone models have the same conferencing functionality and should support the audio needs of their environment. ITS will assign new VoIP phone numbers (replacing the old numbers) to the new phones and will also configure the phones to automatically log in to this number, even if the phone is restarted.
Office admins should keep an eye out for an email with more information about the upgrade process, as well as a calendar reservation for any conference rooms they manage.
