Over the next few weeks, Information Technology Services will be migrating all Y: and U: drives to a new, upgraded technology environment. The Y: drive migration will take place July 26 during the ITS maintenance window (midnight-6 a.m.), and the U: drive migration will occur Aug. 2 during the same time frame.
No significant action is required from users, but here are a few things you can do to ensure a smooth transition:
- All users: Before each migration, close any files on the network drives you might have open. This will ensure that the most up-to-date version of the file is transferred to the new environment.
- Windows users: Managed Windows computers with a current network-drive connection will automatically update the network-drive address during the first login after the migration. This update will be received only if the computer is connected to the campus network, so ITS recommends either shutting down your computer the night before the migration or restarting it the next time you have it on campus.
- Mac users: Managed MacOS computers will be configured to automatically connect to the appropriate network drive; manual connections will no longer be necessary. This new configuration will be applied reliably only if the computer is connected to the campus network, so ITS recommends either shutting down your computer the night before the migration or restarting it the next time you have it on campus.
If you have any problems reconnecting to your department’s network drives after the migration, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 303-352-7548 or support.msudenver.edu.
