It’s almost time to ditch four wheels for two and gear up for this year’s Bike to Work Day on June 26.

The event sponsored by the Denver Regional Council of Governments has continued to grow since the City of Boulder launched a similar effort in 1977 (Denver joined forces in 1995). Benefits from biking to work include staying fit, reducing carbon emissions, saving money, avoiding traffic delays and starting the day energized, according to the BTWD website.

This year, the Auraria Campus station at 1100 Curtis (across from the Science Building and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church) will run from 6:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sponsors in addition to Metropolitan State University of Denver include the Auraria Higher Education Center, Ambient Energy, the Auraria Sustainable Campus Program, the Community College of Denver and the One World One Water Center for Urban Water Education and Stewardship at MSU Denver.
