On April 26-27, 2021, Metropolitan State University of Denver will host regional accreditors from the Higher Learning Commission, the body that has accredited the University since 1971.
You might be thinking, “Didn’t we just go through this in 2017?” The answer is yes.
All institutions accredited by the Higher Learning Commission are on a 10-year accreditation cycle, with evaluations done during the fourth and 10th years of the cycle. Now, it’s time to prepare for our standard Year Four follow-up.
Reaccreditation visits are a great opportunity to highlight the fantastic work happening every day on the MSU Denver campus. A strong showing will also ensure that MSU Denver students remain eligible for federal financial aid and are able to transfer credits to other accredited higher-education institutions.
MSU Denver’s last comprehensive evaluation was the Year 10 visit in 2017, during which we successfully reaffirmed our accreditation status. In advance of our Year Four visit, we are beginning the process of documenting the quality work being done by the campus community. This information will be submitted to the Higher Learning Commission as part of the 2021 visit. In addition to the information we provide the Commission, a team of peer reviewers will visit our campus in spring 2021.
The process of planning and preparing for the accreditation visit will intensify this summer, and your help will be vital to our success. Stay tuned for more details about how you can help with the preparation activities.
In the meantime, if you have questions surrounding the upcoming accreditation visit, please email Chad Harris, associate vice president for Curriculum and Academic Effectiveness, at charr112@msudenver.edu or call 303-605-5275.
