Metropolitan State University of Denver leadership requests your feedback on University policies under development.
Board of Trustees’ Policies for Review
- Evaluation of the University President (revised)
- Student Conduct, Disciplinary Action and Due Process (revised)
The University Policy Advisory Council recommended revisions to the Board of Trustees’ policy on evaluation of the University president to request input from University faculty, staff, students and alumni during the evaluation process to better reflect MSU Denver’s commitment to shared governance.
The Board of Trustees’ student-conduct policy is being updated to delegate authority to the president and vice president for Student Affairs to oversee development of the Student Code of Conduct to reflect current practice.
President’s Policies for Review
- Animals on University Property (new)
- Email and Electronic Communications (revised)
- Data Classification (revised)
- Facilities Use (new)
A proposed animal policy sponsored by the offices of Equal Opportunity and Human Resources outlines employee rights and responsibilities when bringing animals, such as service or emotional-support animals, to work or class. The policy generally prohibits pets in the workplace and learning environment, and it allows animals used for instructional, research or co-curricular activities. The policy would apply to MSU Denver-owned and -controlled spaces, including offices and classrooms rented from the Auraria Higher Education Center.
The Office of Information Technology Services is sponsoring several revisions to existing data-security and email policies concerning use of non-MSU Denver email for official communications and automatic forwarding of email to personal email accounts to protect confidential, employee and student data and to reduce the cost of cybersecurity insurance in case of a confidential-data breach.
A proposed policy on facilities use provides guidance to University employees, student groups and the public on appropriate use of University meeting spaces, including public-access spaces. The policy addresses use of facilities for political and commercial activities, including inviting speakers to campus and solicitation and vending by employee, student or non-University-affiliated groups.
