Songs of the Sea Islands Workshop
11-12:30 a.m., Central Classroom 204
Through interactive songs using polyrhythms and call-and-response, critical listening and language skills, musical play, vocal improvisation and dance, members of Ranky Tanky will share the rich traditions of the African American Gullah culture that has helped to shape American music today.

Lesbian Day of Visibility
11 a.m. – 5 p.m., LGBTQ Student Resource Center located in Tivoli 213
The LGBTQ Student Resource Center welcomes all to celebrate the experiences and identities of our Lesbian community members for Lesbian Day of Visibility on April 26. The event will include a screening of season two of She-Ra & the Princesses of Power. Light refreshments will be provided. Active Shooter Training
9-10:30 a.m., JSSB 400
Environmental and Emergency Preparedness Manager Mark Pokorny, together with the Auraria Police Department, will host an Active Shooter Training open to all faculty, staff and students. The goal of this training is to help our community be prepared with what to expect in the event of an active-shooter attack on campus.
Topics will include:
- Prevention measures
- Actions to take during an attack
- What to expect once the attack has concluded
No registration is necessary, and anyone associated with the campus is welcome to attend. Those with questions can contact Pokorny at mpokorn1@msudenver.edu.

MSU Denver at DIME Open House
6:30-8:30 p.m., DIME Denver
Visit MSU Denver at DIME for an open house to meet the team, faculty and students, explore the building and find out more about programs. Attendees can learn more about recruitment, the application and audition processes, and come back May 5 to audition for MSU Denver at DIME programs in Commercial Music Performance (bass, drums, guitar, vocals), Song Writing and Music Industry Studies.

Cinco de Mayo in Garibaldi Plaza
Noon-2 p.m., Denver Performing Arts Complex Galleria
Join the Colorado Symphony and the Mexican Cultural Center on Cinco de Mayo for a celebration of the rich cultural heritage that makes our community so unique. The day begins with a Garibaldi Plaza celebration in the Denver Performing Arts Complex Galleria and culminates with a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Family Concert at Boettcher Concert Hall. The free, all-ages event highlights Mexican culture, music and regional dancing. This will be a true family affair.
Featured local musical performances will include MSU Denver Mariachi Correcaminos, Mariachi de la Luna, Mariachi Femenil Alma del Folklore and much more.

Annual Faculty Federation Membership Meeting
