Nominate a colleague for a Distinguished Service Award by April 9

The honor recognizes employees who have provided exceptional service to MSU Denver and its mission.

The award was established in 1977 to recognize employees who have provided exceptional service to the Metropolitan State University of Denver community and its mission in the following general areas:

  • Longevity: service on a permanent basis over at least 10 years.
  • Breadth: high-quality contributions over the years.
  • Significance: motivated by dedication and commitment to MSU Denver.

Up to five awards can be given each year: the President’s Award; the Distinguished Service Awards for classified staff, administration and faculty; and the Extraordinary Service Award. There is no minimum, and the committee does not have to issue any or all awards for a given year.

Award recipients are recognized at the Faculty and Staff Appreciation BBQ on May 9 at 9th Street Historic Park.

To be eligible for the award, individuals must be current employees of the University with a minimum of 10 years of service and must not have previously received one of these honors. Submissions should include a letter of nomination and two additional letters of support. Criteria include demonstrated dedication and service to the University as well as demonstrated excellence in carrying out job responsibilities. The deadline to submit a nomination is April 9.
