Student dressed for a job interviewFinding interview attire that is affordable and professional can be difficult for recent graduates and students preparing for their big gig. To help students dress to impress without breaking the bank, JCPenney is partnering with Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Career Services team and the University of Colorado Denver for the second annual Suit-up event.

On Feb. 24, the Northfield JCPenney location will open its doors exclusively to MSU Denver and CU Denver students and recent alumni from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Students who bring their university IDs will get an extra 40 percent off sale prices on professional attire including suits, jackets, shirts, dresses, slacks, shoes, ties and other accessories. Students can also stop by the in-store Sephora location for a chance to win prizes and receive makeup and grooming tips, and can preregister on the event website to win a $25 gift card.

Last year’s Suit-up event raised more than $3,000 in gift certificates to offset career-attire costs for students and alumni. This year, event organizers are hoping to surpass that amount and welcome any and all donations to the MSU Denver Foundation gift-card account.

Faculty and staff can further support Suit-up by:

  • Sharing the event link with students and recent alumni.
  • Volunteering to help at the event.
  • Bringing in-kind donations for door prizes to Career Services, Administration Building 270.
