Student finances tend to dwindle as the academic semester progresses. To give Metropolitan State University of Denver students a boost, the Roadrunner Food Pantry is giving away Mid-Semester Snack Packs to all currently registered students who sign up in Tivoli 262 or the Dean of Students Office in Tivoli 311. The snack packs will include a mixture of fruit, snacks and ready-to-go meal options for students.
The pantry serves to fight hunger on campus by providing basic nutritional food for students in times of need. From August to December, the pantry served 241 students through 926 visits.
“Our goal is to provide our students with nutritious food and snack options to help them focus on their midterms and give them food options over spring break,” said Case Management Coordinator Erica Quintana-Garcia. “We hope to distribute about 100 snack packs on March 21 while supplies last. If we raise more money, we can purchase more; otherwise, we will have to limit it to the first 100 who sign up.”
A fundraising effort to purchase the Snack Packs will continue through March 15. All gifts to the Roadrunner Food Pantry go directly to help a student in need. While any size gift is welcome, the fundraising site below provides suggested amounts and the resulting benefit to students:
- $10 would provide support to help fill a Mid-Semester Snack Pack for a student.
- $25 would provide one Mid-Semester Snack Pack to a Roadrunner.
- $50 would provide two students with Mid-Semester Snack Packs.
- $75 would provide three Mid-Semester Snack Packs to students in need.
“With your support, we will help reduce the amount of food insecurity and provide healthy, nutritious meals to our students,” Quintana-Garcia said.
