Gravity of Perception, featuring lens-based work by artists reflecting on the past by reclaiming and re-contextualizing visual archives, opens Friday at the Center for Visual Arts. The show features a number of pieces that “confront themes of oppression and institutionalized discrimination, offering moments for reflection and space to envision a future where equality thrives,” according to the event website, from artists such as Tya Anthony, Lorenzo Triburgo and Zora Murff.

Get a first look at Gravity of Perception from 6-8 p.m. at the CVA, 965 Santa Fe Drive. The opening reception is free and open to all. For more details, contact Heather Link-Bergman, CVA communications manager.

Honor those continuing the work of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Jan. 18

The MLK Peace Breakfast and award ceremony recognizes and celebrates individuals within Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Denver community who keep the spirit and dream of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. alive through their actions and contributions to peace, justice, diversity, equality and social change.? This year’s theme, Music and the Movement, will also feature Ron Miles, MSU Denver director of jazz studies.

Learn more about this year’s Peace Award winners, then join the MSU Denver community Jan. 18 at the 2019 MLK Peace Breakfast. 

Tickets are available now, and faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to attend.

Get rowdy for Roadrunner Basketball

Jan. 18-19

MSU Denver’s women’s and men’s basketball teams go up against CSU-Pueblo on Jan. 18 with games starting at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. The action continues Jan. 19 as both teams face off against New Mexico Highlands University at 5 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men). Remember, faculty and staff receive two free tickets to all regular-season home games throughout the 2018-19 season, so go support your MSU Denver Roadrunners!
