The C in CADRE stands for “community.”
And our impact is just what Roadrunner employees got to experience recently from a bus tour that took them to several site locations throughout the Denver metro area. Participants traveled to the American Red Cross, Eaton Senior Center, DCIS at Fairmont Elementary School and culminated at the Student Impact and Innovation Showcase in the AES building.
“Our goal was to inspire faculty and staff to think about how they might get students involved in our community,” said Rhonda Eaker, director of MSU Denver’s Applied Learning Center.
Along with the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE), the two departmental sponsors saw an opportunity to revive the event which had been on hiatus after a handful of initial runs.
“We really wanted to highlight engagement and showcase the positive work faculty, staff and students are doing around the region,” said Michael Kolb, director of the CFE. “It was great to hear from our community partners of the value of working together.”
“It’s also a type of service that’s consistent with our core values,” added Eaker.
The bus tour is anticipated to happen again in Fall of 2018.
