MSU Denver provost recognized for leadership in civic engagement

Vicki Golich, Ph.D., accepted the William M. Plater Award at the 2018 American Democracy Project Regional Institute on Nov. 2.

Congratulations to Provost Vicki Golich, Ph.D., the 2018 recipient of the William M. Plater Award for Leadership in Civic Engagement. The award recognizes exemplary leadership in advancing the civic learning of undergraduates through programs and activities that encourage greater knowledge, skills, experiences and reflection about the role of citizens in a democracy. Golich received the award during the American Democracy Project Regional Institute on Nov. 2.

The William M. Plater Award was established in 2006 by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and named for Plater, former chief academic officer for Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Civic engagement was central to Plater’s tenure, and his leadership helped establish IUPUI as a national leader in student civic engagement. The award is announced each June at the organization’s annual Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Meeting and is given to an AASCU chief academic officer.
