Faculty, it’s time to activate your spring courses

The process is available in Blackboard Learn; video-management platform transition has been completed.

Students at computersSpring-semester course activation in Blackboard Learn is now available. To ensure a smooth transition and to retain the updated links to media items now stored in YuJa, faculty members are asked to migrate their fall 2018 courses to spring 2019.

If the course being taught in spring 2019 was not taught in fall 2018 or summer 2018, Information Technology Services will update any remaining Kaltura media links as quickly as possible. The request to migrate courses specifically from fall 2018 to spring 2019 is a one-time request precipitated by the recent video-management platform change from Kaltura to YuJa.

Course-activation instructions are available on the Selecting Your Course for Migration (Activation) webpage, but the ITS Helpdesk staff (303-352-7548 or support.msudenver.edu) is happy to assist as needed.

The three-month project to transition to YuJa for storing and delivering media content was completed at the end of August. ITS would like to thank faculty for their patience and cooperation throughout the transition. Special thanks go to MSU Denver’s Marketing and Communications team as well for updating more than 150 links to media items on departmental sites.

Finally, we would like to commend the Instructional Technology Team — James Eck Jr., Patrick Purfield, Terri Balogh, Ryland Dominguez and Ed Jacobs Jr. — for migrating 10,000 media items from Kaltura to YuJa and manually updating about 6,000 links (a process that took 400 hours) to media items within Blackboard Learn summer and fall 2018 courses, WordPress and Digital Measures. Kudos to this dedicated team!
