Windows 10 is here

How MSU Denver’s operating-system upgrade will make your work life easier and more efficient.

Metropolitan State University of Denver computers will gradually be upgraded to Windows 10, the latest version of the operating system designed by Microsoft for use on PCs, laptops and mobile devices. This transition is precipitated by Microsoft’s announcement that the company will not support Windows 7 after Jan. 14, 2020, in order to focus on developing new technologies.  

To prepare for the Universitywide transition to Windows 10, Information Technology Services has been testing and supporting the new operating system for the past two years. More than 200 University-owned computers are already running Windows 10, which is working well with our current software and services. All newly deployed University Windows computers will have Windows 10 installed on them by default, and ITS is developing a seamless upgrade process for computers still running Windows 7.  

The new features and functionality available in Windows 10 will provide many benefits to MSU Denver faculty and staff, such as: 

• Modernized start menu and layout
• Flexible and customizable interface
• Performance improvements
• Enhanced security.
