The MSU Denver faculty brain trust reaches almost every corner of the academic spectrum, and we are always proud to see Roadrunners sharing their knowledge. Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics – providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.
Here’s a sampling from October:
Darrin Duber-Smith, M.S., MBA, senior lecturer of marketing, was interviewed Oct. 30 by Scripps about how retailers Walmart and Amazon are competing with each other online and at brick-and-mortar locations.
Mary Ann Watson, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and professor emerita, spoke Oct. 30 with Colorado Community Media about relationships and dating trends in densely populated metropolitan areas.
Jerald Foote, Ph.D., associate professor of nutrition, shared his expertise with 9News on Oct. 25 about Xylitol use as a common sweetener ingredient in foods and how it can be dangerous if consumed by pets.
Robert Preuhs, professor of political science, interviewed Oct. 17 with The Denver Post about youth voting trends in Colorado.
William Gaines, lecturer of criminal justice and criminology, talked Oct. 12 with Fox31 about the importance of thorough search procedures following an incident in which a Denver police officer failed to notice a loaded gun in a suspect’s waistband.
Shinyong (Shawn) Jung, associate professor, School of Hospitality, Events and Tourism, recently shared his expertise with Wallethub in an article about credit cards for international travel.
