The Latinx Legacy Awards were created to recognize Metropolitan State University of Denver Latina/o faculty and staff for their contributions to supporting the University’s Latina/o community and to ensure that the legacy of these faculty and staff members will be preserved long into the future.
The Inaugural Esther Rodriguez Staff Legacy and Luis Torres Faculty Legacy awards were named for Esther Rodriguez, former special assistant to the president, and Luis Torres, Ph.D., professor of Chicana/o Studies. The awards honor Rodriguez’s and Torres’ years of service to MSU Denver as well as their longtime commitments to serving the Latina/o community.
Latinx Legacy Awards nominees will be measured on:
- A demonstrated commitment to serving and supporting the Latinx community on campus through institutional work, community work or advocacy efforts.
- A minimum of three years of service to MSU Denver.
- At least two personal recommendations from MSU Denver community members.
Nominations are due Nov. 21. Winners will be recognized during a luncheon ceremony Nov. 27.
Please forward any questions about the process to Eric Silva, scholar advisor, TRIO Student Support Services.
